RF 830 Traveller Systems
Ronstan's RF 830 series travellers are designed around a hardcote anodized I-Beam Track that measures 1 1/4" (32mm) across the top. Cars feature captive stainless steel ball-bearing wheels that ride freely under load with minimal friction. Note that Ronstan 1 1/4" Traveller Cars are only compatible with RF 830 Traveller Track and will not fit any other Traveller Tracks.

RF 830 Traveller Track
Ronstan 1 1/4" I-Beam Track: RF 830 -__ft.:
RF 830 Traveller track is a hardcote anodized I-Beam Track that measures 1 1/4" (32mm) across the top and bottom, and is also 1 1/4" (32mm) high. Track is drilled for 1/4" (6mm) FH screws on 100mm (3 7/8") centers, and has 5/16" diameter stop holes on 50mm (2") centers. RF 830 I-Beam Track is available in 3'3" (1M), 4'11" (1.5M), 6'7" (2M), 9'10" (3M), and 19'8" (6M) lengths.

RF 830 Traveller Cars
RF 830 Traveller Cars have permanently riveted captive SS ball-bearing wheels that ride freely under load with minimal friction. New-style RF 830 Traveller Cars are made from heavy SS formed channel, and feature a SS Channel Top with (3) clevis pins for attachment to mainsheet block and control lines. Old-style Cars were cast Aluminum. Cars have ultimate tensile strengths from 3080-9240 lbs. (1400-4200kg). Wheels on all RF 830 Traveller Cars are 7/8" (22mm) diameter, are permanently mounted and cannot be replaced. Normal maintenance of these Cars requires nothing more than a fresh water rinse.

 

4-wheel Traveller Car w/ Beckets: RF 824:
Channel-Top Traveller Car with Beckets for RF 830 I-Beam Track. SS Channel-Top has 5/16" clevis pin for attachment of mainsheet block and (2) 1/4" clevis pins for attachment of control lines. Car is 2 7/8" long with a maximum width of 1 7/8", and has an ultimate tensile strength of 3080 lbs. (1400kg).

 

4-wheel Traveller Car w/ 2 Control Sheaves & Beckets: RF 827:
As RF 824 (above), but with 2 Control Sheaves for 5/16" line mounted under the Channel Top. Provides a 3-1 control purchase.

 

Heavy-duty 4-wheel Traveller Car: RF 826:
Heavy-Duty 4-wheel Traveller Car for RF 830 I-Beam Track is assembled with  heavy forged eyestrap, bringing its ultimate tensile strength to 4400 lbs. (2000kg). Eyestrap is removable for attachment of mainsheet block. Car is 2 7/8" long with a maximum width of 1 7/8".

 

8-wheel Traveller Car w/ Beckets: RF 828:
Eight-wheel Traveller Car for RF 830 I-Beam Track is made from (2) RF 826, 4-wheel car bodies, joined with a SS triangular channel. This arrangement allows both car halves to articulate separately and avoids uneven loading when used on curved tracks. Triangular Channel Top has 1/2" clevis pin for attachment of mainsheet block and (2) 1/4" clevis pins for attachment of control lines. Car is 6 1/4" long with a maximum width of 1 7/8", and has an ultimate tensile strength of 9240 lbs. (4200kg).

 

 

 

8-wheel Traveller Car w/ 2 Control Sheaves & Beckets: RF 825:
As RF 828 (above), but with 2 control sheaves for 3/8" line mounted under the Triangular Channel Top. Provides for a 2-1 or 3-1 control purchase.

Replacement Sheave only, for RF 830 4-wheel Cars: RF 826S:
Delrin sheave is 1 1/16" diameter x 7/16" wide x 3/8" ID. As used on RF 827 and old-style 4-wheel Traveller Cars, and in other applications. With rope groove for maximum 3/8" (10mm) line.  Sch 18-10S

 

Replacement Sheave only, for RF 830 8-wheel Cars: RF 1314S:
Delrin sheave is 1 5/8" diameter x 9/16" wide x 1/2" ID. As used on RF 825 8-wheel Traveller Car, and in other applications. With rope groove for maximum 3/8" (10mm) line.

 

Eyestrap for Traveller Car: NF 1051:
Heavy formed SS eyestrap as used on RF 826 4-wheel Traveller Car. Eyestrap is (maximum) 2 3/8" long and has attachment holes for (2) 5/16" bolts on 1 3/4" hole centers.

 

Small Channel Top with Pins: RF 824CT:
SS Channel-Top has 5/16" clevis pin for attachment of mainsheet block and (2) 1/4" clevis pins for attachment of control lines. Formed SS Channel is 2 3/4" long x 1 1/8" (maximum) wide, has 9/16" interior clearance, and (2) attachment holes for 1/4" bolts on 1 3/4" hole centers. As used on RF 827 Cars.  PN3953+P

Triangular SS Channel-Top has 1/2" clevis pin for attachment of mainsheet block and (2) 1/4" clevis pins for attachment of control lines. Formed SS Channel is 4 3/8" long x 1 1/4" (maximum) wide, has 1 1/16" interior clearance, and (2) attachment holes for 5/16" bolts on 3 3/8" hole centers. Special Bridge Plate for joining (2) RF 830 8-wheel Traveller Cars together. Link Plate attaches to 8-wheel Cars using 1/2" Clevis Pins, and includes central shackle for Mainsheet attachment. Doubles Car ultimate tensile strength to 18,000 lbs. (8400kg).

 


RF 830 Traveller Ends & Stops
Plastic Track End Stop: RF 833:
Hard molded plastic Track End for RF 830 Track covers track end and attaches to deck with (1) #10 (5mm) FH screw. Extends 1 3/8" beyond track.

 

 
Adjustable Track Stop: RF 832:
Adjustable Track Stop for RF 830 Track features SS Spring Pin and rubber bumper to cushion car impact. Used on free-floating car systems without end controls, especially for jib and staysail boom Travellers. SS Track Stop is (maximum) 2 1/2" long x 1 5/8" wide. PL2

 


RF 830 Traveller Control Ends
Control Ends for Travellers come in 2 configurations, those that mount on the Track itself, and those that mount on the deck adjacent to the end of the track. In cockpits, it is also common to use blocks mounted on the cockpit sides for controls. Control Ends are available in a variety of configurations for different purchases with or without cam cleats.
Track-mount Control Ends are available with or without cam cleats and beckets for 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, or 4-1 purchase systems. *Please note that all RF 830 SS Track-mount Control Ends are compatible with standard US (1 1/4" x 3/16") T-track, as well as Kenyon 1 1/4" I-beam Traveller Track (K-4548), and Amiot 32mm I-beam Traveller Track.

Formed SS ends (4" long) slide onto track and are held in place with a 3/8" SS screw that fits into any existing stop hole, or a new one can be drilled and tapped (3/8"-16), if necessary, for maximum outboard placement and optimum fit. Control line dead-ends on Control End becket, goes around upper car sheave, around upper Control End sheave, around lower car sheave, then around lower Control End sheave to separate cleat.

 

NF 1333B

 

Deck-mount Control Ends are cast aluminum with beckets for 2-1, 3-1 or 4-1 purchase, and extend 5 1/4" beyond track end. Units use 2" diameter sheaves (NF 16161S), and have recess for NF 16469 cam plates, or cleats can be mounted separately on deck. Mounting screws with nuts and washers are included, (longer screws might be necessary for some deck-mounted installations). As these units cover the end of the track, separate end stops (RF 833) are not required.

Cast Single sheave Control End has tab with bumpers that extends 1 1/2" over Track surface. Used interchangeably on left and right sides for 2-1 purchase systems. Double Sheave, Deck-mount Control End w/ Becket: NF 16269:
Cast Double sheave Control End has tab with bumpers that extends 1 1/2" over Track surface. Used interchangeably on left and right sides for 3-1 or 4-1 purchase systems. Control line dead-ends on becket on car, goes around upper control end sheave, back through Sheave mounted on the car, then around lower control end sheave to separate cleat. Cam Plate for Deck-mount Control End: NF 16469:
SS Cam Cleat mounting plate fastens in recess under Deck-mount Control Ends, NF 16161 & NF 16261. Provides mount for cam cleat without drilling additional holes in the deck.

Main Sheet Block Assemblies
While most RF 830 Main Sheet Systems used a Main Sheet Block that was shackled to the Traveller Car Eyestrap or Clevis Pin, a variety of specialized Main Sheet Block Assemblies were developed for specific OEM applications, all of which featured an integral Spring to keep the Main Sheet Block upright at all times. Main Sheet Block Assemblies listed here are specifically designed for use on Ronstan Traveller Cars for RF 830 Traveller Track. A variety of configurations not listed here are available on a semi-custom basis, please forward complete details for a quote.

 

Mainsheet Fiddle Block w/ Becket for 8-wheel Cars: NF Sch 19-06X:
Heavy-duty Mainsheet Fiddle Block Assembly with Becket for use on RF 828, and RF 825 8-wheel Traveller Cars. Series 11 Block Assembly attaches to Car Channel's 1/2" Clevis Pin and features integral Spring Assembly to keep the Block upright. Block has black aluminum cheeks with SS straps, (3) Delrin sheaves, and features removable Sheaves and Becket. #
