Wood Replacement Spreaders

Wood Spreaders were not uncommon on production boats even into the 1970's. Although Rig-Rite no longer makes Wood Spreaders we do make Replacements for them using a suitably sized Aluminum Airfoil Section. Spreaders are available on a semi-custom basis, the only difficulty being the manufacture of inboard ends to fit existing Spreader Bases.

To get a quote on Aluminum Replacement Spreaders, Please specify:
Length from inboard end to shroud bearing surface, and the Inboard End configuration. Common Inboard Ends are detailed below. If your inboard ends are listed, specify them by Part Number. If not, then specify details of your Inboard Ends (height, width, Pin size and spacing, and hole center distance from Inboard End).
Available in Tapered or less expensive Un-Tapered versions, we will quote both. If Outboard Pin Ends are required specify details. Please include boat details as well.

Spreader Tips for Wood Spreaders
*Aluminum Tip Strap for Wood Spreaders: PP 10083A:* Aluminum Spreader Tip Strap for Wood Spreader. Strap (3/4" x 1/8") is formed to fit typical wooden Spreader tip configuration, and shrouds up to 5/16" (8mm). Clear anodized Aluminum Tip Strap is 2 3/4" long and formed at (maximum) 1 1/2" wide (inboard), but can be spread to accommodate wider Spreaders. Tip Strap is normally attached with thru-bolts or rivets and has (2) 3/16" holes for attachment to Spreader, holes on other side are drilled through after fitting Strap to Spreader. PY12/10083

*SS Tip Strap for Wood Spreaders: PP 10083S:* Stainless Steel Spreader Tip Strap for Wood Spreader. Strap (3/4" x 1/16") is formed to fit typical wooden Spreader tip configuration, and shrouds up to 3/8" (10mm). SS Tip Strap is 2 1/2" long and formed at (maximum) 1 1/2" wide (inboard), but is highly flexible and can easily be spread to accommodate wider Spreaders. Tip Strap is normally attached with thru-bolts or rivets and has no mounting holes, holes are drilled through after fitting Strap to Spreader. PY12
*Bronze Tip Casting for Wood Spreaders - #2: Mer 559B-2:* Original Merriman #2 Bronze Spreader Tip for Wood Spreader. Cast Bronze Tip is 2 1/4" long x 3/4" thick x (maximum) 1 1/2" wide and has holes for seizing wire. Interior where wood Spreader seats is 3/4" wide at tip, 1" wide at base x 1 1/2" long. #2 Bronze Tip has (2) 1/8" holes for attachment with thru-bolts or rivets and is suitable for shrouds up to 1/4".
*Bronze Tip Casting for Wood Spreaders - #3: Mer 559B-3:* Original Merriman #3 Bronze Spreader Tip for Wood Spreader. Cast Bronze Tip 3 5/8" long x 1 1/4" thick x (maximum) 2 1/4" wide and has holes for seizing wire. Interior where wood Spreader seats is 1 1/2" wide at tip, 1 3/4" wide at base x 3" long. #3 Bronze Tip has (2) 3/16" holes for attachment with thru-bolts or rivets and is suitable for shrouds up to 7/16".

Inboard Spreader Ends for Wood Spreaders
*SS Channel End for Wood Spreaders: PP 10242:* Stainless Steel Spreader Inboard End Cap is used to reinforce heavily loaded Inboard end where Wood Spreaders attach to mast bracket. Formed SS channel is 2 7/8" wide x 1 1/2" high (1 1/4" ID) and attaches to mast bracket with (2) 1/4" bolts or Pins on 2" centers, 3/4" from inboard wood end. Rectangular wood Spreader fits inside channel and is attached to channel with (2) 3/16" screws. As used on Pearson 35, and others.
*Aluminum Inboard Box End for Wood Spreaders: PP 11087:*
Aluminum Box End is used to reinforce heavily loaded Inboard end where Wood Spreaders attach to mast bracket. Hollow Extruded Aluminum box is 3" wide x 1 1/2" high x 5 1/2" long, and attaches to mast bracket with (2) 3/8" bolts or Pins on 1 3/4" centers, 7/8" from inboard end. Rectangular wood Spreader fits inside Box and is attached to Box with (3) 1/4" bolts. As used on Pearson 30 and a variety of others.
*SS Inboard Box End for Wood Spreaders: PP 09072:* Stainless Steel Box End is used to reinforce heavily loaded Inboard end where Wood Spreaders attach to mast bracket. Welded SS box is 3" wide x 1 1/4" high x 4 1/2" long, and attaches to mast bracket with (2) 3/8" bolts or Pins on 2" centers, 3/4" from inboard end. Rectangular wood Spreader fits inside Box and is attached to Box with (2) 1/4" bolts. As used on a variety of Pearson Yachts, including Vanguard 32, Pearson 35, Alberg 35 and others.
