Merriman Winches
Merriman Winches have been out of production for over 20 years.
During more than 80 years of production Merriman produced dozens of different Types of
winches in many Sizes. Some parts not listed here are available on a Custom basis, we
will require a sketch of the parts with dimensions and full details including Winch size to quote.

Merriman Bronze Winches - Pawls and Springs
Merriman #395 and #396 Bronze Winches were produced from the mid 1920's until the
early 1970's, and are the most commonly seen Bronze winches. Sometimes Chrome-plated, these Top-action
(#395) and Bottom-action (#396) Halyard and Sheet Winches all used a Flat, Slide-in Bronze Winch Handle.
Most Winches have the size (#1, 2, or 3) stamped in the top. Versions produced after 1963 used square
Pawls, earlier models had Round Pawls.
If you require Pawls and Springs not listed here, we will require a sketch of
the old Pawls and/or Springs with dimensions and full details including Winch size.

Merriman Aluminum Winches - Pawls and Springs
Merriman #8, 10, 16, 22, 25, and 28 Aluminum Winches were produced
beginning in 1971, all use the same Pawl and Spring assembly. Pawl
design is similar to Barient and Lewmar, but incorporates plastic pads in
the Pawl face to reduce noise and drum wear, as well as a delrin shaft that
captivates the Pawl Spring, greatly simplifying replacement. These Top-action
Winches all use the Barient standard 11/16" hexagonal Winch Handle.
