Chainplate Covers
Chainplate Covers are designed for use with Standard Chainplates made from rectangular bar or plate stock which protrude through the deck. Chainplate Covers fit over the Chainplate and are fastened to the deck to help protect against water intrusion as well as helping to restrict lateral movement. Most Chainplate Covers are made from Stainless Steel plate, are rectangular in shape, and fasten to the deck with 2 or 4 screws. Formed Chainplate Covers are flared, or pushed up, around the slot where the Chainplate goes through to accommodate a greater amount of caulking underneath the Cover, and therefore a better seal. Chainplate Covers are also commonly used as a reinforcement for lock hasps on companionway boards.
